im going through the scrap bin at work, looking through old cutomer repairs that were binned. if that fails ill order one from bosch or makita as a replacement part, and bodge it in somehow :good: thanks very much for the idea Mcvickers

Ya, 3A is about a 10th of what you need as a minimum.

You might find it cheaper to go to Homebase or B&Q and buy a cheap drill than order a spare from bosch, etc. (unless you have "contacts", of course).

You may be able to feed the maplin PWM (pulse with modulator) unit into a FET that will handle 30A, the FET can be bought for about £2 you would just need a chunk of scrap metal to screw it to as a heat sink.

or run it on a 7.2v ni-cad raidio control car batt, they even have tamia conectors and should charge from an airsoft charger, that way is a lot simpler than any other but you wouldent be able to fine tune it.

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.

this may be the easiest option, but will it have the grunt to turn an aeg gearbox ?

I would not think that a good idea I have a M4 designed to run off a 9.x V and if I stick it on a 8.4 it has lots of problems :(
Probably worth a try though if you have the chance to borrow a battery rather than buy one to test it.

heres the pics of the nearly finished gun

due to lack of time and money, im just getting this to a "looks like" level, very basic, but it should pass at 10 metres

i did plan more detail but as ive said time, cash and problems mean its going to the febuary game for combat trails "as is"

i do need to give it another coat of paint though, also ive got a voltage adjuster to fit on the battery wires to lower the rate of fire, it should work, but thats being done in the week.

some errors i do know about

belt feed from left, (from right on the real one)
metal 7.92 mg42 belt of ammo (canvas .7.62 soviet on real one)
gun shield too large and not "exact" shape
carrage looks like, not the same as a real one
no cocking handle yet, sights or side furniture on the reciver

so basic, but it should do as a soviet support weapon :?

heres the pics

gunners veiw

so if all goes well on the combat trials at the gunman game, i can "fettle" the visuals later in the year :good:-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Surely you need to watch your back, Wladek? That's got to be a Commissar's weapon!

Looks awesome, Tony. Well done. :good:

magnificent ,just as well the rules say it must be deployed to fire as i cant see you running about with it mutch.refinement comes in time ,better than rushing it and not doing it juastice, all it needs is a rudamentory sight to be functuional for now .an impressive and ambitious build well carried out ,keep it up.

Nice work Tony! Why do I get the feeling that you're bonkers enough to drag it around all day?

Looks ace, can't wait to see it in action. :good: I think its the shield shape that stands out as not looking quite right, but I'm sure you'll put that right soon enough.
I wouldn't worry about the ammo belt too much, later models did use metal link belts although still fed from the right side. Maxim cloth belts are hideously expensive anyway and if you did get one I'd probably have to steal it for my Naval Infantry impression.

thanks for the positive comments guys, i thought it would get slated

the sheild is 6mm steel plate, so its to difficult to shape and bend with the limited tools ive got, there some nice aluminum sheets at work, ive just got to "liberate" a little bit and shape that instead

id prefer steel so its got some weight, but it looks like its going to be ally, just because its easier to work with.

wood or plastic just dont sound right when the bb`s hit, it needs a nice metalic whack

Yes with you there mate if you are going to do it use metal or at least a thin metal laminate over wood.

MAXIM PASSED ITS COMBAT TRIALS
TOTAL SUCSESS

the german CO actually said men were retreating when they saw the maxim ahead, and russian teammate reported germans running away when it opened up

it sound very beefy, but then so does any aeg encased in a steel box.

it had no combat issues at all, and i dragged it over fallen trees, through 6 inches of mud, and deep puddles, and it kept going fine.
300 round high caps worked great, ammo needed changing rather quickly and it seemed at the right time, and the 10 second reload really give the enemy time to move up between bursts.
most times i was killed was from the flanks, and the tunnel vison useing the sights really affects situational awareness

i could run forward, and usually got time to duck down and open fire, usually by the same time enemy rounds started to hit the sheild.

i still need to resize and shape the sheild for a smaller one, but overall it did the job i wanted, and intimidated the enemy.

i only got one picture as my camera was broken by the kids and i only found out at the game, so here one off my phone, (not in action im afraid)

That's the best moment of finishing a custom gun...to wield it on the field without problems! Congrats!
